John A. Karol joins the firm!
In 2010, Mr. Karol brought his practice to The Richard Rosen Law Firm, PLLC, where he continues litigating a wide variety of commercial matters and disputes in addition to maintaining his prior employment litigation practice.
Prior to joining The Richard Rosen Law Firm, PLLC as an Associate, Mr. Karol worked at the firms of Liddle & Robinson, L.L.P. (2002-2006); Thompson Wigdor & Gilly LLP (2006-2007), and Michael Faillace & Assoc., P.C. (2007-2010).
Mr. Karol initially represented individuals in the financial services industry in a wide variety of securities, regulatory, contract and employment matters in federal and state court, as well as in arbitrations before the NYSE and NASD (now FINRA). He has negotiated numerous complex separation agreements and compensation agreements for both employees and management, and has served as "class counsel" in several federal employment-related litigations. He has also advised small and large business entities, including "Fortune 500" companies, on various employment matters, such as drafting employment manuals and policy manuals. Mr. Karol expanded his practice in 2006 to include general litigation, and obtained substantial experience litigating many federal class actions and "collective actions" under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) on behalf of classes of wage and hour plaintiff classes. In addition to his experience in state and federal court, Mr. Karol has also practiced in numerous Alternate Dispute Resolution (ADR) forums, including the AAA and JAMS.

Richard L. Rosen recognized as a 2009 Legal Eagle
Richard has been recognized for the 6th year in a row as a “Legal Eagle” (one of the 100 best franchise lawyers) by the franchise community. He appears in the May 2009 issue of the Franchise Times as part of its 6th Annual Legal Eagle edition. (For more information, click here.)
Speaking Engagements
On January 9, 2009, Richard participated as a panelist (along with Julie Bennett of The Franchise Times and Eric Stites of Franchise Business Review),
during the International Franchise Association (IFA) sponsored Franchise Expo South at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami Beach, Florida. The topic of discussion was “10 Things No One Tells You When You’re Shopping For A Franchise”. Richard and his co-panelists had previously presented discussions on this topic at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. on April 11, 2008. On March 20, 2009, Richard, Eric and Nancy Weingarten, editor of the Franchise Times, repeated this popular presentation at the International Franchise Expo held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.
Richard L. Rosen Honored With Lifetime Achievement Award
On May 5, 2008, Richard was honored by the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers (AAFD) during its 16th Annual Conference held in Newport New, Virginia when he was presented with its Total Quality Franchising Award for Lifetime Achievement. Richard is only the third attorney (the late Harold Brown and Michael Dady being the others) to receive this prestigious award. (For more information, click here.)
